Cancer-Bald by Suzanne Sutherland

Lately Stacy is noticing more people who are bald. Not trendy-bald or punker-bald (do people still call themselves punkers?) but bald-bald, cancer-bald.

Stacy often wears a gold necklace which was her aunt’s before it was hers. When her aunt died (breast cancer) Stacy was repulsed at the idea of going through her things and choosing items (rings, brooches) to become her own, but she did. She feels good about this choice now, tells people at parties that dead people always have the best jewelry, goes home, lies down on her bed, and checks for lumps.
